1. Die Steuerschuld:<\/strong>\u00a0Bis 1992 konnte man kein Bier kaufen, wenn man dem Fiskus Geld schuldete<\/p>\n

2. Nachrufe:<\/strong>\u00a0Die Nachrufe werden zweimal t\u00e4glich im Radio im Rahmen der Radionachrichten vorgelesen: um 12:00 Uhr und um 18:00 Uhr.<\/p>\n

3. Hammelfleisch:<\/strong>\u00a0Obwohl es auf den F\u00e4r\u00f6ern 70.000 Schafe gibt - und nur 49.706 Menschen - decken die F\u00e4ringer nur etwa 40% ihres gesamten Lammfleischverbrauchs; der Rest wird aus Neuseeland importiert. Lammfleisch ist in den f\u00e4r\u00f6ischen Superm\u00e4rkten im Allgemeinen schwer zu finden<\/p>\n

4. Geografische Fakten:<\/strong>\u00a0Die F\u00e4r\u00f6er Inseln sind 113 km lang, 75 km breit und bestehen aus 18 Inseln. Sie haben eine Fl\u00e4che von ca. 1.400 km2 und eine K\u00fcstenl\u00e4nge von 1.117 km, und egal, wo man sich auf den F\u00e4r\u00f6ern befindet, ist man nie weiter als 5 km vom Meer entfernt. Die durchschnittliche H\u00f6he des Landes betr\u00e4gt etwa 300 m, und der h\u00f6chste Berg (Sl\u00e6ttaratindur) ist 882 m hoch.<\/p>\n

5. Wetter und Klima:<\/strong>\u00a0In Anbetracht der n\u00f6rdlichen Lage der F\u00e4r\u00f6er Inseln ist das Wetter im Allgemeinen sehr mild, aber auch sehr wechselhaft. Das Meer friert nie zu, da die F\u00e4r\u00f6er Inseln inmitten des warmen Golfstroms liegen. Die Sommer sind k\u00fchl (Durchschnittstemperaturen von 12 Grad), w\u00e4hrend die Winter mild sind (Durchschnittstemperaturen von 3,5 Grad) und nur wenig Schnee fallen.<\/p>\n

Tatsache: Tinganes ist das alte Viertel der f\u00e4r\u00f6ischen Hauptstadt T\u00f3rshavn. Der Name \"Tinganes\" stammt vom Lagting, das in der Wikingerzeit (900) auf dieser Landenge errichtet wurde und noch heute hier steht<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

7. Governance:<\/strong>\u00a0Die F\u00e4r\u00f6er sind formell Teil des K\u00f6nigreichs D\u00e4nemark, haben aber seit 1948 schrittweise Autonomie erlangt und sind auch im d\u00e4nischen Parlament vertreten. Die h\u00f6chste Beh\u00f6rde des Landes ist der Lagting, der 900 n. Chr. (unter dem Namen Altinget) gegr\u00fcndet wurde und damit eines der \u00e4ltesten Parlamente der Welt ist. Die F\u00e4r\u00f6er sind nicht Mitglied der EU, und der Handel auf den Inseln wird durch Handelsabkommen geregelt. Die F\u00e4r\u00f6er Inseln haben auch eine eigene Flagge, die Merki\u00f0 (\"Das Zeichen\") genannt wird.<\/p>\n

8. Nationalfeiertag:<\/strong>\u00a0Der Nationalfeiertag der F\u00e4r\u00f6er hei\u00dft \u00d3lavs\u00f8ka (\"Olaf-Fest\") und wird am 28. und 29. Juli begangen, um an den Tod des norwegischen K\u00f6nigs Olav des Heiligen am 29. Juli 1030 zu erinnern. Der Nationalfeiertag dr\u00fcckt auch die besondere Verbindung von Politik und Christentum aus, die tief in der Kultur und Gesellschaft der F\u00e4r\u00f6er verwurzelt ist. K\u00f6nig Olav ist auch der Schutzheilige der F\u00e4r\u00f6er.<\/p>\n

9. Feiertage:<\/strong>\u00a0Die f\u00e4r\u00f6ischen Feiertage sind im Grunde die gleichen wie die d\u00e4nischen, aber es gibt drei weitere: Flaggentag am 25. April, \u00d3lavs\u00f8kuaftan am 28. Juli und \u00d3lavs\u00f8kudagur am 29. Juli.<\/p>\n

10. Sprachen:<\/strong>\u00a0Auf den F\u00e4r\u00f6ern gibt es zwei Amtssprachen: F\u00e4r\u00f6isch und D\u00e4nisch. Obwohl D\u00e4nisch fr\u00fcher die einzige Amtssprache war, sprechen die F\u00e4ringer heute im Alltag nur noch F\u00e4r\u00f6isch. D\u00e4nisch wird in den Schulen ab der 1. Klasse unterrichtet, und die D\u00e4nischpr\u00fcfung ist dieselbe wie in D\u00e4nemark. F\u00e4r\u00f6isch stammt aus dem Altnordischen und ist eng mit allen anderen nordischen Sprachen verwandt, \u00e4hnelt aber am meisten dem Isl\u00e4ndischen. Die meisten F\u00e4ringer k\u00f6nnen alle nordischen Sprachen und Englisch verstehen.<\/p>\n
