La estructura del sistema solar puede esbozarse r\u00e1pidamente de la siguiente manera:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sol - Mercurio - Venus - Tierra - Marte<\/strong>\u00a0(cintur\u00f3n de asteroides)\u00a0<strong>- J\u00fapiter - Saturno - Urano - Neptuno -<\/strong>\u00a0(cintur\u00f3n de Kuiper incl. Plut\u00f3n) - (nube de Oort) - (heliosfera)<\/p>\n<p>Los distintos elementos se analizan con m\u00e1s detalle a continuaci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Los planetas del sistema solar:<\/strong>\u00a0Nuestro sistema solar est\u00e1 formado por 8 planetas (Mercurio, Venus, Tierra, Marte, J\u00fapiter, Saturno, Urano y Neptuno) y 5 planetas enanos (Ceres, Makemake, Haumea, Eris y Plut\u00f3n), adem\u00e1s de miles de asteroides y cometas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Asteroides:<\/strong>\u00a0La mayor\u00eda de los asteroides de nuestro sistema solar se encuentran entre la \u00f3rbita de los planetas Marte y J\u00fapiter y se denominan simplemente \"cintur\u00f3n de asteroides\".\n<ul>\n<li>Los expertos estiman que el cintur\u00f3n de asteroides entre Marte y J\u00fapiter contiene m\u00e1s de 750.000 asteroides de 1 km de di\u00e1metro o m\u00e1s, as\u00ed como millones de asteroides m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os y meteoritos (rocas)<\/li>\n<li>Algunos de los asteroides tienen \u00f3rbitas que ocasionalmente les hacen colisionar con la Tierra u otros planetas del sistema solar interior<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cometas:<\/strong>\u00a0La mayor\u00eda de los cometas del sistema solar est\u00e1n m\u00e1s lejos de la Tierra que Plut\u00f3n y se encuentran en el Cintur\u00f3n de Kuiper y la Nube de Oort.\n<ul>\n<li>Los cometas del sistema solar est\u00e1n formados principalmente por hielo y roca. Cuando un cometa se acerca al Sol, parte del hielo de su n\u00facleo se funde y se convierte en gas; y es este gas el que forma las caracter\u00edsticas \"colas\" de los cometas<\/li>\n<li>Los cometas de vida corta completan sus \u00f3rbitas en menos de 200 a\u00f1os y se cree que proceden del Cintur\u00f3n de Kuiper, mientras que los cometas de vida larga completan sus \u00f3rbitas en m\u00e1s de 200 a\u00f1os y probablemente proceden de la Nube de Oort.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sistema Solar Interior:<\/strong>\u00a0Los 4 planetas m\u00e1s cercanos al Sol -Mercurio, Venus, la Tierra y Marte- son los llamados \"planetas rocosos\" (tambi\u00e9n denominados planetas rocosos, planetas terrestres o planetas terr\u00e1queos) porque todos tienen superficies rocosas s\u00f3lidas. Estos planetas tambi\u00e9n reciben el nombre de \"sistema solar interior\".<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sistema solar exterior:<\/strong>\u00a0Los cuatro planetas m\u00e1s alejados del Sol que Marte (J\u00fapiter, Saturno, Urano y Neptuno) son gigantes gaseosos (tambi\u00e9n llamados planetas de gas o planetas jovianos) porque no tienen una superficie s\u00f3lida, sino que est\u00e1n formados principalmente por gas. A estos planetas tambi\u00e9n se les denomina \"sistema solar exterior\".\n<ul>\n<li>Los planetas del Sistema Solar exterior est\u00e1n compuestos principalmente de hidr\u00f3geno y helio, por lo que su composici\u00f3n es muy similar a la del Sol. Algunos cient\u00edficos creen que los planetas pueden tener n\u00facleos s\u00f3lidos. Adem\u00e1s, tienen anillos que contienen polvo, roca y hielo. El tama\u00f1o de estos elementos var\u00eda mucho: desde granos de polvo hasta bloques del tama\u00f1o de una casa.<\/li>\n<li>Saturno tiene los anillos m\u00e1s grandes y prominentes de los planetas de nuestro sistema solar, pero J\u00fapiter, Urano y Neptuno tambi\u00e9n los tienen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Campos magn\u00e9ticos:<\/strong>\u00a0La mayor\u00eda de los planetas de nuestro sistema solar tienen campos magn\u00e9ticos a su alrededor (la llamada \"magnetosfera\"). El sol tambi\u00e9n tiene un campo magn\u00e9tico (la heliosfera) que incorpora todo nuestro sistema solar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lunas:<\/strong>\u00a0Casi todos los planetas de nuestro sistema solar -y algunas de sus lunas- tienen atm\u00f3sfera. Sin embargo, las sustancias qu\u00edmicas que se encuentran en cada una de las esferas at\u00f3micas var\u00edan mucho, y el comportamiento de las atm\u00f3sferas (debido a las diferencias en las \u00f3rbitas de los planetas) tambi\u00e9n es diverso. Por ejemplo, la atm\u00f3sfera de Plut\u00f3n se colapsa cuando \u00e9ste orbita lejos del Sol. La atm\u00f3sfera se recupera a medida que el planeta se acerca al sol. Este fen\u00f3meno se observa sobre todo en los cometas\n<ul>\n<li>Se conocen 166 lunas en nuestro sistema solar.
