1. Moldavi\u00eb vs Moldavi\u00eb:<\/strong>\u00a0De Republiek Moldavi\u00eb werd een onafhankelijke staat in 1991 met het uiteenvallen van de Sovjet-Unie. Moldavi\u00eb is een landgebied - dat het huidige Moldavi\u00eb omvat - en bestaat sinds 1359. Het verschil tussen de twee wordt verderop in dit artikel verder uitgelegd.<\/p>\n

2. Naam:<\/strong>\u00a0De naam 'Moldavi\u00eb' komt van de rivier de Moldavi\u00eb, gelegen in een vallei die het politieke centrum was toen Moldavi\u00eb in 1359 werd gesticht. De oorsprong van de naam van de rivier is onduidelijk.<\/p>\n

3. Stefanus de Grote:<\/strong>\u00a0De meest zegevierende heerser van Moldavi\u00eb was prins Stefanus de Grote (1457 - 1504), die 46 van de 48 veldslagen voor Moldavi\u00eb won tegen invallende troepen uit onder andere Hongarije, Polen en het Ottomaanse Rijk.<\/p>\n

4. Alcohol:<\/strong>\u00a0De bevolking van Moldavi\u00eb heeft de hoogste alcoholconsumptie ter wereld (ongeveer 18 liter pure alcohol per hoofd van de bevolking per jaar).<\/p>\n

5. Wijn:<\/strong>\u00a0Moldavi\u00eb heeft een lange en rijke traditie van wijnproductie. Archeologen hebben met zekerheid kunnen vaststellen dat er in dit gebied al sinds 2800 v.Chr. wijn wordt verbouwd. - Dat is bijna 5000 jaar! Wereldwijd is Moldavi\u00eb de 21e grootste wijnproducent. Er is ook een traditie van individuele families die hun eigen wijn produceren en de recepten worden van generatie op generatie doorgegeven.<\/p>\n

Feit: Moldavi\u00eb werd in 1359 gesticht door Stefanus de Grote. De naam 'Moldavi\u00eb' bestaat sindsdien, maar de Republiek Moldavi\u00eb werd pas in 1991 gevormd.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

6. Grootste wijnkelder:<\/strong>\u00a0Milestii Mici is de naam van een Moldavische gemeente en van de grootste wijnkelder ter wereld. De gangen van de wijnkelder zijn 200 km lang, hoewel slechts ongeveer 55 km in gebruik is. De kelder bevat ongeveer 2 miljoen flessen wijn, wat ook een wereldrecord is.<\/p>\n

7. Grootste flesvormige gebouw:<\/strong>\u00a0Het 'Strong Drinks Museum' in het dorp Tirnauca is met zijn 28 meter het grootste flesvormige gebouw ter wereld.<\/p>\n

8. Vlag:<\/strong>\u00a0De vlag van Moldavi\u00eb is een van de weinige vlaggen ter wereld waarvan de voor- en achterkant niet identiek zijn. Het verschil tussen de twee kanten is dat het embleem - het wapenschild van Moldavi\u00eb - op de achterkant is omgekeerd.<\/p>\n

9. Transnistri\u00eb en Gagauzi\u00eb:<\/strong>\u00a0De Moldavische gebieden Transnistri\u00eb en Gagauzi\u00eb kregen op 23 september 1994 een onafhankelijke status in een poging om de etnische spanningen in het land te verminderen. Tegelijkertijd werden alle plannen om een unie met Roemeni\u00eb te vormen opgegeven.<\/p>\n

10. Aangepast:<\/strong>\u00a0Het is traditie en gebruik om je schoenen uit te doen voordat je een Moldavisch huis binnengaat.<\/p>\n
