Detta var dock inte acceptabelt i internationella astronomiska kretsar vid den tiden och planeten fick ist\u00e4llet namn efter den romerska havsguden Neptunus. Idag tillskrivs alla de tre uppt\u00e4ckarna (Le Verrier, Adams och Galle) av Neptunus ansvaret f\u00f6r uppt\u00e4ckten.<\/p>\n<h2>Tidigare observationer av Neptunus<\/h2>\n<p>Galileo var den f\u00f6rste som observerade Neptunus 1612, men han trodde att planeten var en stj\u00e4rna och registrerade den som en s\u00e5dan - d\u00e4rf\u00f6r kan Galileos observation av Neptunus inte betecknas som en faktisk \"uppt\u00e4ckt\" av planeten.<\/p>\n<p>Andra tidiga observat\u00f6rer av Neptunus \u00e4r J\u00e9r\u00f4me Lalande 1795 och John Herschel 1830, men precis som Galileo karakteriserade ingen av dem Neptunus som en planet.
