Fakta om Oman

Dolken indgår desuden i Omans flag
  3. Nationaldag: Den 18. november er nationaldagen i Oman. Her fejres begyndelsen af den nuværende sultan Qaboos bin Saids styre i 1970. Dagen falder desuden sammen med sultanens fødselsdag
  5. Portugisisk styre: Oman var under Portugals styre i årene 1507 – 1650. Ottomannerne erobrede dog hovedstaden 2 gange i denne periode.
  7. Sultan Qaboos: Den nuværende sultan, Qaboos bin Said Al Said, overtog styret efter en fredelig afsættelse af hans fader, Said bin Taimur, i 1970. Faderen havde været sultan siden 1932
