About Denmark
Denmark is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, comprising the Jutland Peninsula and several Baltic Sea islands known as the Danish Archipelago. It borders Germany to the south and is located southwest of Sweden and due south of Norway. Denmark has a coastline of 8,750 km but a shorter general coastline of 1,701 km, not accounting for offshore islands and the Limfjorden. Its land area is estimated at 43,094 km2 but varies due to erosion and land reclamation.
Denmark has an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of 105,989 km2, ranking 15th globally. It has 443 named islands, with 72 inhabited, including Zealand, Funen, and Bornholm. Bridges and ferries connect the larger islands, while main cities include Copenhagen, Århus, Aalborg, and Odense.
The country experiences a temperate climate with mild winters and cool summers. Denmark controls the Danish Straits, linking the Baltic and North Seas. Natural resources include petroleum, natural gas, fish, salt, limestone, chalk, stone, gravel, and sand.
