Singer-songwriter Neil Leslie Diamond was born in the United States on January 24, 1941. One of the best-selling musicians of all time, he has sold more over 130 million records worldwide. Ten of his tracks reached No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary and Hot 100 charts in the United States: “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Song Sung Blue,” “Longfellow Serenade,” “If You Know What I Mean,” “Desirée,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” “America,” “Yesterday’s Songs,” and “Heartlight.” The song “Sweet Caroline” is one of 38 Diamond songs that have been in the top 10 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts. In the 1980 musical drama The Jazz Singer, he made his acting debut. He has also acted in other movies.

In addition to being elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984, Diamond also won the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. He was a Kennedy Center Honoree in 2011 and was given the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.
